NAACP COMMUNITY FORUM with the Chief of Police Jeri Williams

The first police forum for 2017 with Phoenix’s newly new Chief of Police, Jeri Williams. Chief Williams is Phoenix’s first woman police chief and certainly the first African American.

This was the first of four forums schedule for the City of Phoenix in 2017.

It was held at South Mountain High School in their café. There were approximately 125 people in attendance from throughout the community, which included students and their parents from South Mountain High School along with the newly hired principal and his staff.

The purpose of the forum was for Chief Williams to introduce herself and her direct staff and to explain her agenda and goals. There were several of Chief Williams top staff member in attendance.

After Chief Williams spoke, the community was given a chance for direct questions and answers.

The forum lasted for about 2.5 hours and everyone walked away very proud of Chief Williams and very positive about the working relationship between the community and the police department in the City of Phoenix.

Phoenix Law Enforcement Association “PLEA” so graciously provided the refreshments for this event.

The next forum will be sometime in April in a different area of the city.
